Field Trips

Field Trips are designed to supplement and enrich the classroom curriculum. Field trips generally fall into three broad categories:

Living History
Past examples include; the Fourth grade overnight trip to Coloma, the Third grade trip to the one room schoolhouse in Woodland and the Fifth grade trip to a reenactment of a Civil War battlefield.

Art and Culture
Saint James School benefits from its close proximity to the UC Davis Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts. Students have the opportunity to be exposed to a wide array of national and international music, dance and theater groups. In addition, students visit galleries in the Sacramento and Davis areas.

Curriculum Related
Prime examples are the weeklong Sixth grade Outdoor Education trip to Walker Creek Ranch in Marin County, the kindergarten trip to the Sacramento Zoo and excursions to local farms.
